McDonald’s is airing this commercial in France, targeting homosexual teenagers, not that there’s anything wrong with that. Or could there be? I will be the first to say that I understand this is a market segment that has viable buying power, and should be catered to in order to maximize profits. Also keep in mind that France is more progressive than the United States on this topic, so it is seen as more acceptable there….Nothing wrong with that. It’s their country and their culture.
However, I must admit that I don’t think it is appropriate to focus on children, regardless of age. In society we have enough to worry about with keeping children safe. Internet predators, pedophiles, catholic priests, and horrible role models are large enough problems for parents to concern themselves with. I simply think children should be allowed to be kids. They grow up quickly enough in this age of immediate gratification and media bombardment. McDonald’s is a staple in most people’s childhood. It has always been a place of fun to kids, and simply doesn’t need to encourage this rapid deterioration of the joy and innocence of being a child.

What I wouldnt give to have a debate with you about this. You just say so many things that arrive from nowhere that Im fairly certain Id have a fair shot.
