The practice of making extravagant “Collector’s Editions” of video games is as old as gaming itself, but it looks like Activision is about to kick it up a notch.
When the anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is released on November 10, its $150 Prestige Edition will include what’s surely the most extravagant bundled bonus ever — a fully-functioning pair of night-vision goggles.

An Activision community manager made the announcement in a Youtube video, where he unboxes and shows off the goggles, which carry the game’s branding. The Prestige Edition also includes a head-shaped display stand for the goggles, an art book, and fancy limited-edition packaging.
Modern Warfare 2′s night-vision specs will join a proud tradition of crazy video game pack-ins, including Halo 3‘s infamous cat helmet, The Sims 3‘s plumbob-shaped USB drive, and Fallout 3‘s oversized watch and bobble-head doll, which was featured in the game, too.

It’ll retail at $150, and considering that even basic night vision goggles easily run over $100 on their own, it actually sounds like a pretty good deal. All the same, as far as we can determine, it’s the most expensive retail video game bundle in history, discounting games that came with their own custom controllers.
So if you’re keen to play Modern Warfare 2 (as the follow-up to easily the best game of ’07, you should be) and you’re keen to spy on your neighbors, you’d better get saving.

Hey peeps, would you be willing weed out some of the advertising so it’s easier to enjoy your writing? I have a glacial isp and it takes a long time to pull down your page!
This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

Coming home from very lonely places, all of us go a little mad: whether from great personal success, or just an all-night drive, we are the sole survivors of a world no one else has ever seen.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the former.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, I don’t think you can measure life in terms of years. I think longevity doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with happiness. I mean happiness comes from facing challenges and going out on a limb and taking risks. If you’re not willing to take a risk for something you really care about, you might as well be dead.
If you are in need of some night vision goggles, this is actually a good deal….
