A Croatian man who escaped a high-speed car crash without a scratch was killed by a train as he walked home just hours later.
Police found the battered body of 29-year-old Boro Mandic along the tracks in Zagreb just hours after doctors had examined and released him earlier, the Croatian Times reports.
Police set out to find Mandic after his worried mother called to report that her son still had not returned from the hospital.
An investigation showed he had wandered onto the tracks, unaware of an oncoming express train. It is believed that a thick fog in the area at the time had disoriented him.
